How to Position the Crib for Good Feng Shui in Your Baby's Room

Laura Cerrano

A client from Northport, New York hired me to Feng Shui their home and in particular, asked me to assess the energy of their baby's bedroom. They observed, since she’s been sleeping inside her crib, each night she crys.

After reviewing the baby's furniture arrangement from a Feng Shui perspective, it became very obvious why their daughter was reacting negatively to the layout of the room.

The diagram above illustrates the original baby's bedroom layout

Two main problems to be aware of

1. Avoid placing the baby's crib along a bathroom wall. In Western Feng Shui this is called, “sha” energy, or “drain” energy. Bathroom pipes act like geopathic stress points inside the home. Symptoms felt, could be a person feeling tired, sick, or emotionally unstable. In my client's case, their baby cries all the time when sleeping in her crib at night.

2. Arrange the crib in a "commanding position." This allows the baby to feel protected and supported energetically and psychologically. The ideal set up is to position the crib between two corners within the bedroom. The corners become the metaphor of parents cradling their baby at night when sleeping. When choosing a corner, be sure to select one that is NOT IN ALIGNMENT with the bedroom doorway.

My clients moved the crib away from the bathroom wall and repositioned it to be in a commanding position so their daughter could feel more supported at night when sleeping.
