Restaurant Bathroom Design Incorporates The Feng Shui Principles
Laura Cerrano
The principles of Feng Shui are all around us. How would you know? Take the initiative to explore feng shui though discussion, research, attending workshops and more importantly, experiencing it first hand. By allowing yourself to be open and receptive, you will become more familiar and comfortable with understanding why certain building materials, objects, furnishings, subject mater within photographs and artwork have been selected.
Below is an a quick a break down of a Restaurant Bathroom that Incorporated Feng Shui into its design.
Situation With Bathrooms In Feng Shui:
Bathrooms in Feng Shui are considered "drain" no matter their placement on the blue-print and floor plan. Why? The nature of a bathroom is to "get-rid of," "exit out" and literally drain away water. With that understanding, from a feng shui perspective this is why bathrooms have derived this characteristic. Is it bad? From my humble opinion, No. Feng Shui is not presented on a fear based perspective. It's simply an observation and there are simple cures that could be put into place to counter that action of the bathroom.
Feng Shui Remedies:
Color: Bathroom wall colors are suggested though accents to be beige, creams, or earth tones to keep things simple. Some may also offer earthy yellows or even greens.
Artwork: The single piece of artwork along the wall has three stones stacked on top of each other. The stones relate to earth energy. Why is that important? In Feng Shui, earth helps to absorb excess water energy and 3 is a powerful number connected to abundance.
- Building Materials: The ceramic tiles and counter tops are also related to earth energy. Looking all around the bathroom you'll also observe there is a lot of wood element (floors and bathroom doors). There is also an abundance of metallic textures along the wall and within the bathroom sink design.
Using materials that are both metallic and wood offer the opportunities of additional supportive energy. These two elements are known for positively increasing the life section of wealth (which is where this bathroom is located in the restaurant).
- Shapes: When people think of money in Feng Shui the term "money coin" tends to come up. Observing the wooden bathroom door designs, they symbolically mirror that of "money coins."
Essentially, take your bathroom that is considered "drain" and transform it's meaning into "a nurturing space" (like a mini spa). No need to complicate or create fear based perceptions.
