Feng Shui Question: What Does Ch'i Mean?

Laura Cerrano

Some could say there is no direct translation of the word ‘Ch’i’, but the closest could refer to life force energy, vital energy, energy, prana, and Qi as to name a few references.

Essentially Ch'i in Eastern philosophy is said to animate the principles of life. We are in constant connection to this unseen force, becoming entangled and dancing with it as this energy acts as a kind of interface between the material world and the non-material world.

In China, residents practice Tai Chi daily. This form of movement meditation (the origin of Kung-Fu) is said to replenish Ch'i that has been drained from our body.
